I checked it out and I think that I fit a new Mainspring running very nicely. It is his Sons name so he thought that it would be a good Birthday present for him. Hi, it is interesting that the Company Roamer is mentioned, A little while back a friend of mine got me to purchase for him a Roamer Pocket Watch (1920's-1930's) engraved "M Hood" on the back. By this period in their history they no longer made watches on their Liverpool site. Russell imported the movements and cased them in, usually, Illinois Watch Case Co or Dennison cases and then supplied them to watch retailers throughout the country. Quit often what appears to be a 15 jewel watch, as yours does, turns out to have no jewels on the dial plate and is a 9 or 10 jewel watch. It does appear to be in nice condition but had you noticed that one of the case screws is missing? If you propose to use it on anything like a regular basis then I would recommend that you have it cleaned and serviced before you do so (unless you know that it has been done recently by a trustworthy person) as running the watch without appropriate lubrication can do damage in a remarkably short time.Īgain, with these Russell retailed movements it is difficult to judge on quality without taking it apart. That is one of those anonymous Swiss made movements that it is almost impossible to date with any precision bobmac. Click to expand.I'm married - I'm used to that
